Happy Being Blue

about

This was the first track that was recorded for the album. It's a bluesy, upbeat instrumental that I actually recorded in the living room of a one bedroom apartment with a Martin Stinger Guitar that a friend had given me before he moved back to Wisconsin. I programmed the drums and bass and had to record each part of the lead 30 seconds at a time due to a sound card that could not keep up with multi-track recording and kept getting out of sync. The original Hammond Organ part was originally just a loop but the final version was done by a friend in Spain who chooses to remain nameless. His expert Hammond skills really dressed it up and gave it the mood I was looking for.

It still amazes me to this day that the end result came out sounding as good as it does with all the trouble I went through to get it finished without the proper recording equipment that I had later on. I've always been very proud of this one and looking back I wouldn't change one single thing about how it came to life.
