To Be Alone

Believe it or not I wrote this song while driving home alone after a gig one Winter's night in 2007. Earlier that night during the show, people were dancing and singing along and having a really good time. Then when all was said and done I helped another musician and His wife pack up gear and headed out to my car. About a week or so before the gig, someone had broken out my passenger side window and had stolen my car stereo so i was left to entertain myself by singing in the car that night while headed home. I came up with the first verse and the tune was there in my head so I stopped at iHOP to eat and write it down on a napkin with my waitresses pen. (I still have the napkin stained with hollandaise sauce) I made it home around 4am and sat down and finished the song and recorded a demo and then uploaded it to MySpace just four hours after I started writing it in the car.

I re-recorded the song for the album in 2009

The lyrics came from drawing upon an amalgamation of experiences in my life with the opposite sex. It is not autobiographical but has since found a way of coming true as though when I was writing it, I was glimpsing into my future....including the crickets at the end. :)
